Positively Pets

Education for the best puppy in the park

About us

“I want to give people what I was looking for when I first started training my own dog.  A friendly, controllable pet.  Helpful, supportive  instruction.  Somewhere I could do just the basics or progress to more advanced training and learn more about dog behaviour.” Jenny Adams

Jenny Adams (APDT Member No: 102):

I manage Positively Pets and instruct classes. As well as training dogs for over twenty years, I have:

  • Puppy Class Instruction Certificate accredited by the Open College Network
  • Understanding the Canine Human Interface Certificate - (Distinction) from the Animal Care College
  • Certificate in Basic Counselling Skills.

My background is in advice work. I used to work as a behaviourist helping dogs and cats with problem behaviour, but decided prevention is better than cure and I could help more by putting all my efforts into classes.

I've got two dogs, (Saint) Squirrel the Jack Russell Cross and Paris the (thinks he's bigger than he is) Papillon. And I'm very broody for a new puppy! But I'm listening to my own advice and am taking the time it takes to find the right baby dog for me.

Emma Malcolm:

As Assistant Instructor I mainly help students one to one while the instructor takes care of the whole class. I help if a particular dog isn't learning as quickly as his owner expects, I answer questions on an individual level, and deputise as instructor when the need arises.

I've trained dogs for all my adult life (and before!). I'm not able to own my own dog at the moment because I don't have a garden and work full time, but my family have Miniature Schnauzers, Heidi and Krista. When I still lived with my parents, Chloe was mine and I trained her from puppyhood. I dog sit for friends whenever I can.

I also do voluntary work with groups of young people and am working on my teaching skills for this and my doggy work. I have achieved Level 3 certificate in Counselling Skills and Theory. I'm working towards a Level 3 qualification in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and a Level 4 qualification in Youth Leadership and Training.

Mo Poole:

I am Class Assistant. I look after all course bookings and sort everything at class. Everything! I'll help you choose the right training equipment for your dog and I maintain our library of useful info for students. I'm also a First Aider.

I have two dogs, Radley who's a 2 year old Wire Haired Viszla and Mopsa who's an 8 year old crossbreed. I've owned dogs as long as I can remember, mainly rescues and bigger breeds. As well as pet obedience training, I've done quite a bit of agility with them.

Other Class Assistants have varying backgrounds, qualifications and experience but have a commitment to helping pet owners and their dogs.
